Rules on General discipline
- Every pupil should endeavour to keep up the high tone of the school.
- Punctuality and regularity in attendance, proper uniform, an
earnest effort in home-work assignments and gentle behavior in
and outside the school are always insisted on and in these matters
the co-operation of the parents is expected at all times.
- Pupils are not permitted to leave the premises while in session
without the written permission from the Principal/Co-Ordinators. In
such a case. parents/guardian or authorized person must
accompany the child. Absence from school in order to study is
never permitted.
- Absence from school must be supported by a leave letter signed
by the parent'guardian. The signatures must match with the
specimen signatures given.
- Leaves, other than on emergency grounds, must have the
sanction of the Principal. In case of medical leave, the application
must be supported by a medical certificate from a qualified
medical practitioner. Prolonged medical leave or any planned
leave must have the sanction of the Principal.
- if a student is absent without information for more than 7 days,
his/her name will be removed from the rolls. Re-admission,
granted, shall be done on payment of fine for the duration of
absence and the re-admission fees.
- Attendance on national holidays such as Independence Day. Republic Day etc. is compulsory.
- Attendance during examinations is compulsory unless established absence was on medical grounds. No re-examination will be held at any cost and the absentees will be assessed based on the previously written examinations.
- No student is permitted to engage any of the school teachers as private tutors without the written sanction from the Principal.
- The management reserves to itself the right to dismiss students who continually fail to make satisfactory progress in their academics or whose conduct in any way detrimental to the orderly life of the school.
- If a student fails consecutively two times in a class, he/she will not be permitted to continue studying in the school.
- While moving on the corridor, either single or together, especially class hours. silence is to be maintained. While moving from assembly to the respective classrooms, library, laboratories etc. students are to be in line and in silence. Running, playing or shouting in the academic block, is not permitted.
- Every student is expected to reach the school well on time. He/she will not be permitted in after three late arrivals. Once the gates are closed after the first bell, they will not be allowed to enter.
- Students are not permitted to scribble on the walls, doors, windows, desks, chairs, buildings, corridors, stair cases, toilets etc. of the school.
- Damage to property, however small, will not be condoned. Stringent disciplinary measures will be taken against such offenders. The parents will have to bear the fine and expenses of the damage.
- Loitering on the way to school, both to and fro is totally discouraged.
- Students are answerable to the school authorities for their conduct in and out of the school. Hence, misbehavior in public places and public conveyance will lead to serious disciplinary action.
- On their way to and from school, students must remember that the school is judged by their conduct. They should greet teachers when they meet them, it being understood of course, that teachers return their greeting. Thus every pupil is urged to conteibuteto the high moral tone of the school by his/her manners and deportment.
- Hands in pockets. slouching gait, untidy dress, dirty shoes and in the case senior boys, being unshaven are misdemeanours. Courtesy to staff, visitors and fellow students is expected at all times.
- In the campus, students are strictly forbidden to talk to or entertain parents, friends, visitors etc. without the prior permission of the Principal.
- In the event of a teacher being absent from the class. students are expected to maintain decorum and obey the prefect/monitor appointed to maintain good order.
- On school days and at all functions, students are to wear the prescribed uniform and the uniform must be neat and tidy.
- All students are expected to converse in English while in the campus. it being understood that St. Mary's Academy is ar, English Medium School.
- Every pupil must take part in physical training and games unless declared unfit on medical grounds by a competent authority an: exempted by the Principal.
- Use or possession of mobile phones or any other electronic gadget is not allowed within the school premises. If such gadgets are found with students, they will be confiscated. Ragging is strictly forbidden; anyone who is guilty of ragging will be strictly dealt with.
- Children who come to school in the care of someone (Domestic help, drivers etc.) should never leave the campus before they arrive. In case of delay, they should report to the school office.
- No fines of any kind or collection for any purpose whatsoever, will be made without the sanction of the Principal.
- Presents to members of the staff or other demonstrations of honour also require prior sanction of the Principal
- Students using unfair means in the examination will be given zero in that subject He/she will be debarred from appearing in the next two examinations. It will be recorded as an act of misconduct. Repeated offenders will be severely dealt with.
- Students, especially seniors are reminded that School Diary
should not be used as a rough book to copy down notes or
anything else.
- Parents and students are reminded that a minimum of 75%
attendance is compulsory for each term inclusive of medical and
emergency leave, failing which they will not be permitted to sit for
the Term Examinations. Kindly note that as per the rules of ICSE
Council, to which the school is affiliated, if a student of classes IX
to XII, fails to secure a minimum of 75% attendance, he/she will
not be permitted to appear for the Final Term/Board examinations
however scholarly he/she is.
